A visit to Kangerlussuaq is almost like a travel in time - the visitor finds himself surrounded by a landscape similar to the ice age where prehistoric Musk Oxen are seen in front of the huge glaciers and the gigantic Inland Ice Cap which covers 85% of Greenland.

The Inuit people have also the phenomena of Northern Lights through the ages, and the Aurora have often challenged the imagination. A well-known legend relates that when the northern lights dance in the night sky, it means that the dead are playing football with a walrus skull. Today certain tribes think that children will be particularly intelligent if they are born in the magical glow of the northern lights.
