Tours

Up in the mountains, 250km north of the Arctic Circle, lies Sweden’s highest mountain lodge, Laktatjakko, offering ten simple rooms, a wood-panelled bar, sauna, hearty country cooking and direct access to world-beating hiking and ski trails. Arriving by snowcat – which ploughs through the snow on tank-like tracks – for a night at Laktatjakko is just one of the highlights of this five-day tour, which begins with a train ride from Kiruna to Björkliden, itself surrounded by breathtaking views of Lapland and Lake Torneträsk. Your base in Björkliden will be Hotel Fjället, from which – if you’re lucky – you may even catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights. After returning to Kiruna by train, a final night is spent at the incredible Ice Hotel, tucked up in a sleeping bag on a bed made of ice.

Here you stay in real wilderness and at the same time you can enjoy luxuries such as a warm sauna, gourmet food and a sparkling fire. Surrounding the lodge are many great hiking trails and interesting spots to visit on a daytrip. Some would rather take it easy reading a book in the sitting room or bask in the sun while enjoying the sweeping views of Lapland’s mountain region. During the day our restaurant serves the famous Låkta waffles, lunches and snacks. In the evenings it features culinary delicacies from northern Sweden.

Day 3 - Saturday
After a night at the mountain lodge, return to Hotel Fjallet by snowcat and check back in to your hotel room.
