Cycling holiday in Åland Islands

Day 1
Fly to Stockholm and check in to luxurious First Hotel Reisen in the Old Town.

Evening is for free to explore the Swedish capital. We recommend a dinner cruise to Drottnigholm.

Day 2
Take a morning ferry to Mariehamn, the capital of Åland Islands. You will arrive there around 2pm. Check in to a centrally located hotel in Mariehamn.

Either relax in the town or do optional cycling programme from Mariehamn to the islands of Nåtö and Jarsö. In Järsö is one of the many nature reserves here on Åland with an in-depth view of the variety this amazing archipelago has to offer. The route brings you along and over the water with parts of the road being embedded in it. The feeling can sometimes give a feeling of flying on the water. This optional tour includes a well deserved picnic. Back in the hotel for relax (Distance: 12,5 miles)

Day 3 – Kastelholm and historical paths
After breakfast pick up your bike and start your cycling holiday. Head north towards Godby and the municipality of Sund with the old ruins of Kastelholm, castle. Here its possible to take a guided tour visiting the old castle or just enjoy a stroll in the open air museum of JanKarlsgården with all the old traditional houses and buildings. Lunch is included in the Kastelholms värdshus. After visiting Kastelholm the tour continues towards Kvarnbo with roots from the Viking era of Scandinavia. Here you can visit the reconstructed Viking village. Check in at B&B. (Distance: 22 miles)

Day 4 – Geta invites with granite rocks and beautiful sunsets
After breakfast the tour continues north towards the municipality of Geta on the beautiful small road of passing the villages of Daglösa and Tjudö. Tjudö may be suitable for a small break visiting the Vineyard. Wines are distilled from the farm's own fruits and berries. There is a possibility to participate in a guided tour among thousands of apple- and cherry trees.

After the break the tour continues to Geta, passing the many apple and fruit gardens finalising at the Hotel Havsvidden which invites with astonishing surroundings and views. The hotel complex is situated on north end of the main island on the granite rocks offering each night a different and unforgettable sunset. A three course dinner and access to the sauna and relax department are included. (Distance: 16 miles)

Day 5 – Hammarland cultural heritage and activities in Eckerö
After a good night sleep, a tasteful breakfast buffet the tour continues passing the small village centre of Östergeta towards Hällö. After a short boat transportation between Hällö and Skarpnåtö. Today's tour brings you on a journey with beautiful landscape and old houses that represent the old cultural heritage of the Åland Islands. On this tour you may stop at some of the many sights e.g. the Skarpnåtö homestead museum, the ceramic shop Lugnet6 or the great Eckerö Mail and Custom’s house on the very western point of the island.

Arrival and check in at Käringsund Resort & Conference. Check in to Seaview bungalow. In Käringsund there is a large offer of activities from crazy golf and volley to kayaks and boat excursions. (Distance: 16 miles and boat transportation).

Käringsund, is located in Eckerö in western Åland. Here you can experience the archipelago’s charm with its silver-grey boathouses, sandy beaches and a view over the sea of Åland.

Day 6 – Return to Mariehamn and Stockholm
Breakfast in the restaurant. Checkout and cycle to Mariehamn (distance 16 miles), return of cycles in the port and check in for return ferry to Stockholm around 2pm.

Arrive to Stockholm around 6pm and check in to First Hotel Reisen. Alternatively you can take the overnight cruise to Helsinki and stay in the Finnish capital.

Day 7
Breakfast and self transfer to the airport. Fly home with a scheduled airline.
