Denmark’s most famous landmark, The Little Mermaid, has now returned to the capital after being in China at the World Expo for much of 2010. The statue is back in its original location on the Copenhagen waterfront and a leisurely boat trip along the city’s canals will take you past the famous monument to Danish author Hans Christian Anderson, together with other sights in the old city. At different times the great writer of fairytales lived in three of the brightly painted townhouses that line the gentrified waterfront area of Nyhavn. Canal boats, fishing vessels, outdoor restaurants and cafes make this one the city’s most beguiling districts. Staying in the heart of it all, you’ll spend two nights at the smart 71 Nyhaven Hotel, a warehouse building originally used for the storage of spices from the Orient. From your central base you’ll be able to take in the best of this vibrant and modern Scandinavian city, including Tivoli Gardens, where you can enjoy the rides at the famous amusement park or dinner and a performance at the spectacular Concert Hall.

After breakfast it is time to explore the Danish capital.
Because the city is so compact, most of the sights can be seen on foot. Copenhagen and its surroundings has something rather special up its sleeve in the art and design department. Copenhagen's architectural richness is one of the first things that strikes new visitors to the city. From the delightful 17th century Dutch-style town houses that line the quay at Nyhavn to the dynamic modern extensions to venerable old buildings. And the museums house impressive collections of both classic and modern - Danish and international art and design.
Copenhagen has so much to offer not only for design buffs but also for anyone who appreciates beautiful surroundings, mouth watering cuisine and historical buildings. Tivoli Gardens is a must not only for families but also for those children at heart.
Day 3
You have morning free to explore the capital further before returning to the airport and fly home.
