Dramatically shifting landscape of sea, lakes, forest, rural areas and not to mention the superb food to be enjoyed as the sun sets are all part of this holiday.

Go ahead and get a taste of what Sweden, its people, culture and cuisine has to offer. This holiday will show you what Sweden is all about: mouth-watering cuisine, trendy cities and history in the form of manor houses. We have selected picturesque accommodation in Swedish manor houses and high quality hotels.

This 7 days / 6 nights self drive tour starts from the capital of Sweden, Stockholm and ends to Gothenburg. You can do this vice versa or add extra nights at any point. Drive from Stockholm to a picturesque and idyllic little town of Trosa and spend an overnight in Trosa Stadshotell. After Trosa continue to Aspa which is half way between Stockholm and Gothenburg. Aspa Herrgard is set in a peaceful hamlet dating back to 17th century. The hotel is known for its exceptional culinary standards. The last two nights are spent in Gothenburg, which lies in the west coast of Sweden. In the past decade, the city has gone from nowhere to being cited as one of Northern Europe’s most exciting culinary destinations.

You will return home refreshed with lots of amazing memories and perhaps a couple of pounds extra around the waistline!

PRICES & DATES

The from-price is based on economy 4 door car (Renault Clio or similar) and accommodation on twin share at Hotel Esplanade, Trosa Stadshotell, Aspa Herrgard and Hotel Eggers including breakfast every days and dinner on days 2-6. It is possible to extend this tour at any hotel. Car upgrades on request. One way fee and vehicle registration fee on car hire are payable locally. From price is based on low season 15 May-1 September.

ITINERARY

Day 1
Fly with Scandinavian Airlines to Stockholm. Overnight in Hotel Esplanade, which is located by the waterside in Nybroviken in the heart of Stockholm.

You eat well wherever you are in the city and regardless of whether you prefer Swedish, international, ethnic or a fusion of all of these. Stockholm’s restaurateurs and chefs are renowned for their culinary creativity, and the restaurant environment and atmosphere are very much part of the total experience.

Day 2
Pick up a rental car and drive to Trosa which is a short drive from Stockholm (approx 70km). The picturesque town Trosa is just as idyllic as you can imagine it to be.

Among the carefully preserved cottages and the narrow lanes the winding Trosa River is making its way towards the beautiful archipelago.

Dinner at the hotel

Day 3
After breakfast continue south west to Aspa, dinner at the hotel

Aspa Herrgard is set in a peaceful hamlet dating back to the 17th century halfway between Stockholm and Gothenburg. Through chestnut trees and oaks, you can glimpse the shimmering waters of Lake Vattern.

Day 4
Day at leisure at Aspa. Close at hand is the wonderful Tivedens National Park and its marked walking trails. You can do a day excursion to the shores of Lake Vïttern, go golfing, riding or cycling.

Dinner at the hotel

Day 5
After breakfast continue towards south to Gothenburg and drop off the rental car to Gothenburg city centre. Goteborg has so much to offer - from the Liseberg Amusement Park to its 10 good golf courses, trips to archipelago and world class cuisine.

Overnight in an elegant city centre Hotel Eggers and dinner.

Gothenburg today has a number of world class restaurants of different styles, all well worth a long detour even for the most discriminating gourmet. Many of the menus are, not surprisingly, especially strong on the west coast’s precious delicacies – fish and shellfish from the north Atlantic, full of flavour from maturing slowly in cold waters.

Day 7
Travel to Gothenburg airport and fly home with Scandinavian Airlines.

Aspa Herrgård

The exceptional culinary standards and the history, culture and scenery offered by Aspa Herrgard combine to give it unique appeal. In addition to expectional cuisine the hotel offers a wide selection of activities.

Hotel Eggers

Delightful, elegant city centre hotel with a country house feel. The hotel is tastefully decorated and has a quiet, central location. The hotel is close to Liseberg and the museums.

Hotel Esplanade

Hotel Esplanade is a charming and traditional hotel located in the heart of Stockholm. It's waterside location by Nybroviken allows guests to explore Stockholm by foot. Nearby are Old Town, Wasa Museum and Skansen Outdoor Museum. Hotel's 32 rooms are individually decorated and have private facilities. Hotel Esplanade first opened in 1910, designed by architects Hagström & Ekman in the style of the times, Art Nouveau. It was considered very modern in those times with running water in all rooms, and bathrooms in some guestrooms. Original furniture was carpeted at NK furniture factory in Nyköping. It first operated as a boarding house with long term residents and today offers a great base for exploring Stockholm.

Trosa Stadshotell

Trosa Stadshotell is known for our well cooked food which is served in 19th century’s decorated dining rooms. The hotel is located 44 miles south from Stockholm in the middle of Trosa. Today Trosa Stadshotell contains 44 comfortable rooms with shower and cable TV. Why not dine in the garden and sit in our "punsch verandas"!
