Iceland Tours

For a honeymoon of absolute contrasts, spend a week in the unspoilt natural beauty of Iceland, and follow up with a week of shopping, fine dining and theatre going in New York.

Much of Iceland is still taking shape before your very eyes — raw, dramatic landscapes born from volcanic eruptions and carved out by glaciers. On the south coast of the country you’ll experience wilderness and wildlife, energy and total calm, all within easy reach. Reykjavik is a city where you’ll feel safe to walk the streets. Cosy, charming, with a “village feel” and friendly people, it has as much entertainment, action and things to do as in any capital city.

A vibrant icon of the modern era, host to the Statue or Liberty, Ground Zero and Sex and the City, New York is the home of excitement and adventure. World famous shopping, restaurants, museums, Broadways shows and the best of period and contemporary accommodation all are waiting to be experienced.

ITINERARY

Day 1
Fly with Icelandair to Keflavik. Upon arrival you pick up your rental car and start your journey towards the South Shore of Iceland. On the way you pass Hellisheiði plateau to the greenhouse village Hveragerði before arriving to romantic countryside hotel Ranga. Check in for 3 nights.

Day 2
After breakfast you have free time to explore the south shore. Close by are Dyrholaey bird cliffs and black sand beaches. Dyrhólaey is a 120-meter high promontory, not far from Vík. The place got its name from the massive arch that the sea has eroded from the headland.

In the evening you can sample hotel’s mouth watering delicacies and soak in a hot tub under the Northern Lights (Oct-March).

Day 3
Another day at leisure. Visit Skogafoss waterfall or drive all the way to Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon.

The greatest attraction of Skógar is the beautiful 60-meter high Skogafoss waterfall in the river Skógaá. If the sun conditions are favourable - one can see a vivid rainbow in front of the waterfalls. The path leading to the top of the waterfalls continues following the river upstream - where numerous more dramatic waterfalls of sheer beauty are to be found. A great hike - to say the least!

Glacial lagoon of Jökulsárlón is a full day trip from Ranga but is definitely worth visiting. It is the best known and the largest of a number of glacial lakes in Iceland. It is situated at the south end of the glacier Vatnajökull between Skaftafell National Park and Höfn. It is also one of the most famous attractions in all of Iceland. Many commercials and several major international motion pictures have been filmed at this exotic location, including James Bond's “Die Another Day” and “Batman Begins”.

Day 4

After breakfast you set off towards Reykjavik. You’ll visit the ‘Golden Circle’ of Iceland and see the spectacular waterfall Gulfoss, geysers and glaciers. Arrive to Reykjavik in the afternoon and drop off the rental car. Check into Hotel Centrum for 2 nights.

Day 5
Day at leisure in Reykjavik.

Reykjavik is home to more than a dozen museums and galleries and has an interesting Old Town full of parks and lakes and many attractions.

Day 6
Breakfast and transfer to Keflavik airport. We recommend visiting Blue Lagoon on the way to the airport.

Fly from Keflavik to JFK. Transfer (shared) to a centrally located 4-star hotel for 4 nights.

Days 7-9

Days at leisure in New York for shopping, Broadway shows, museums and galleries.

Fifth Avenue is New York City's must-see shopping destination and is filled with a mix of upscale boutiques and well-known chains. The die-hard shopper can take a day trip to Woodbury Common Premium Outlets, one hour north of New York City, which features 220 designer apparel and brand-name outlets in a Colonial American village setting

From musical revivals to political dramas to fairytale productions, Broadway offers something for everyone. We recommend booking tickets to your chosen show in advance.

New York is home to many fabulous museums, including the the Metropolitan Museum of Art (known to New Yorkers as “the Met”), MoMA, the Museum of Modern Art and the Guggenheim Museum.

Your stay in New York can be extended to as many days as you wish.

Day 10
Transfer back to JFK for your evening flight to Reykjavik.

Day 11

Arrive home early in the morning.
