Tours

Every month has its own special attractions, character and charm. Iceland is still taking shape before your very eyes; raw, dramatic landscapes born from volcanic eruptions and carved out by glaciers. Icelanders are proud that they still speak the ancient language of the vikings, but they certainly don't live in the past. Visit Iceland today for exactly the same reasons the Vikings did - the love of freedom.

This guided jeep tour will take you along the dramatic south coast where you will explore some of Iceland’s most beautiful locations. You will enter nature reserves that offer marvellous views of glaciers, glacial lagoons where huge icebergs float and amazing waterfalls. You will also visit the famous volcano Hekla, the Great Geyser and the spouting spring Strokkur. 1h horse riding tour is also included in this tour. The accommodation is in farmhouses, country hotels, separate houses or cottages offering travellers accommodation and a variety of services.

ITINERARY

Day 1
Fly with a scheduled airline to Reykjavik.

Transfer to your hotel in central Reykjavik. Journey time about 50 minutes. If you fly out on the morning flight you can, on the journey into Reykjavik, make a stop at the famous Blue Lagoon (optional extra) before continuing to your hotel.

Day 2: South Shore
From Reykjavík head through the town of Hveragerði and the surrounding fertile farmlands, noting the numerous glacial rivers on the way to Skógar. Continue to Dyrhólaey*, a nature reserve, ready to explore. Discover the former site of a 12th-century Catholic convent at Kirkjubæjarklaustur. Overnight in Kirkjubæjarklaustur area.
*Please note that Dyrholaey is closed during nesting season in spring, middle May til June 23rd

Day 3: Skaftafell National Park –Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon
Depart from Kirkjubæjarklaustur onward to Skaftafell National Park, one of Iceland’s most outstanding areas of natural beauty, dominated by Vatnajökull, Europe’s largest ice cap. Continue to the Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon where huge icebergs float and grind together in the still, deep waters of the lagoon. Overnight in Kirkjubæjarklaustur area.

Day 4: Landmannalaugar or Þórsmörk valley
Strike out along the Fjallabaksleið interior track to Landmannalaugar, a magnificent area surrounded by colourful rhyolite mountains, with the option of bathing in a natural warm pool, a great way to rejuvenate the skin and the spirit. Spot the towering Hekla, the iconic Icelandic volcano, after exploring the Þjórsárdalur Valley. Overnight in Flúðir area.

Note: If the route to Landmannalaugar is closed due to road conditions (spring or early summer) the tour goes through lava fields and outwash sands formed by floods from the glacial volcano Katla to Vík, passing two
beautiful waterfalls, and on to Þórsmörk valley.

Day 5: Gullfoss – Þingvellir National Park – Reykjavík
Depart for the Geysir area to see the famous great Geysir and Strokkur, a hot spring that spouts every few minutes. On to Gullfoss, one of Iceland’s most impressive waterfalls. The next stop is Þingvellir National Park, where the ancient parliament met for centuries on the shores of Iceland’s largest lake, before heading back to Reykjavik.
Overnight stay in Reykjavík

Day 6
After breakfast transfer back to the airport for your flight home. If you are departing on afternoon flight we recommend departure transfer via Blue Lagoon.
