This exciting escorted tour combines travel to Iceland and Greenland. Experience these two exotic arctic islands in the north, although very close in distance, their unique landscapes and cultures differ greatly. The easy access to Greenland directly from Iceland makes this combination perfect.

Your escorted tour starts in Iceland, during which you will experience Blue Lagoon, geysers, Gulfoss waterfall, Thingvellir national park and Mount Hekla, Iceland most famous volcano. You stay in Iceland for 5 nights. In Greenland, you will stay 3 nights in Ilulissat, which is located in North Greenland. The town, which is known as 'The Town of Ice bergs' has acquired UNESCO's World Heritage site status. Ilulissat means icebergs in Greenlandic, and the town has a beautiful location at the mouth of the 56 km long ice fjord that is filled with enormous icebergs from the most productive glacier in the northern hemisphere, Sermeq Kujalleq. You will also visit Old settlement of Rodebay and take a boat tour to Eqi Glacier.

The price is based on 2 people sharing a room and includes return flights from London, all airport taxes, 7 day guided tour as per itinerary, 8 nights accommodation with breakfast and facilities (5 in Iceland, 3 in Greenland), 5 dinners (3 in Iceland, 2 in Greenland), 1 lunchbox, horse show, entrance to the Þjóðveldisbærinn, reconstructed farm-house, roundtrip flight to Greenland, Ilulissat with airport taxes, lunch during flight, walking tour in the Ilulissat town, hiking tour to the old settlement, Sermermiut, cruise excursion to Eqi Glacier with lunch onboard. ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival
Fly with a scheduled airline to Reykjavik. Transfer to your hotel and check in to central hotel.

Day 2: Reykjavik - Reykjanes Peninsula - Blue Lagoon
City tour - lava fields - hot springs - geothermal spa

Morning sightseeing tour around Reykjavik City goes to the old town center, the harbor and the Pearl. Next travel to the Reykjanes Peninsula, a geothermal field with hot springs, steaming vents and mud pots and visit the famous Blue Lagoon, set in the middle of the black lava field. Enjoy welcome dinner at your hotel in Reykjavík.

Day 3: Geysers - Gullfoss Waterfall - Thingvellir

National park and UNESCO heritage site - geysers and hot springs - majestic waterfall - farming in South Iceland

Drive to Thingvellir National Park, the ancient site of the original Icelandic parliament and a geologically fascinating area. Walk down the rift valley caused by the separating North-America and Eurasian tectonic plates. Then head to the famous Geysir hot spring area and view one of the most active geysers in the area, Strokkur, spouting hot water up to 30 meters. Continue to Gullfoss, the Golden Waterfall, one of the most impressive waterfalls in Europe. We visit a horse breeding farm with a geothermally heated greenhouse and learn about the Icelandic horse and its special qualities. Overnight in Selfoss area for the next 2 nights.

Day 4: Thjorsardalur - Mt. Hekla - Landmannalaugar
Viking farm - amazing nature - highlands - colourful ryholite mountains
Travel to the valley of the Saga Age farms, Thjorsardalur, an area greatly affected by the 1104 eruption in Mt. Hekla, Iceland´s most famous volcano. We stop at the beautifully reconstructed farmhouse of Thjodveldisbaerinn, the original farm being buried by ashes from the Mt. Hekla eruption. Travel on through this valley with its extensive birch woods, to the dramatic scenery and untouched wilderness of the highlands. Arrive in Landmannalaugar, an area with amazing range of colors, where the landscape is made from the beautiful multi-shaded rhyolite. You have the option to bathe in a natural warm pool. 

Day 5: Ilulissat, a UNESCO heritage site
Morning flight to Greenland - walking tour of Ilulissat - dog sledding demonstration 

Transfer to Reykjavik domestic airport in the morning and then fly to Greenland. Arrive around noon to the picturesque town of Ilulissat. It has a beautiful location at the mouth of a long Ice Fjord, filled with enormous icebergs from the most productive glacier in the northern hemisphere. After check-in at the hotel, enjoy a walking tour in the center of the town with your local guide. Learn about modern life close to the Arctic Circle and join in on feeding the sled-dog team, where the owner will demonstrate dog-sledding and explain the nature of sled dogs in Greenland.

Day 6: Eqi Glacier
Boat tour - glacier and incredible icebergs
Very few places in Greenland are as beautiful as the Eqi glacier, thrusting out in a fjord north of Ilulissat. Sail to the very edge of the glacier’s frontline rising 80-90 meters above the surface of the ocean. While enjoying lunch on board the boat, watch as big chunks of heavy ice break off the glacier and tremble intensely into the water. Collisions are enormous and the sight of icebergs shattering, not to mention the sound, is impressive. 

Day 7: Old Settlements 

Morning hiking tour - afternoon free at leisure
In the morning, hike to the remains of the old settlement Sermermiut, situated by the Icefjord. Listen to the story about life and customs of the Greenlanders before European arrival, whilst enjoying incredible views of the icebergs in the fjord. The afternoon is open for own activities, such as visiting museums in town. Numerous optional excursions are also available that can be arranged on spot.

Day 8: Travel Day 

Free morning at leisure

The morning is free for own explorations. Enjoy the vistas of beautiful icebergs in the fjord or complete any final shopping for tupilaks or other handicraft souvenirs. Transfer to the airport in Ilulissat and flight to Reykjavik, followed by a transfer to your hotel.

Day 9: Departure

After breakfast transfer back to the airport for your flight home.
