Northern Lights in Reykjavik

from £375 per person

Reykjavik skyline is a colorful mix of red and green rooftop houses which nestle along the fjord with a backdrop of majestic mountains.

The Viking Arnason founded the capital in AD874 and named it Reykjavik, meaning 'Smoky Bay' after seeing the steam rising from the hot springs. Reykjavik is home to more than a dozen museums and galleries and has an interesting Old Town full of parks and lakes and many attractions.

If you visit the Icelandic capital during the winter, you have good chances to see the Northern Lights dancing in the sky. We’ve thrown in Northern Lights excursion which will take you to the countryside far away from city’s lights. There is a wide variety of tours available to suit all interests. A sightseeing tour of Reykjavik on arrival will familiarize you with what the city has to offer, while a day tour from Reykjavik may include the magnificent Gullfoss waterfall, the spectacular Geysir geothermal area, a dip in the mineral-rich waters of the Blue Lagoon, a visit to Thingvellir National Park (and World Heritage Site), or a close-up view of a glacier.

Reykjavik city centre during the day, and after hours at weekends when the party is well under way, are two completely different experiences. Reykjavik is well known for its vibrant nightlife, with trendy bars and clubs open until the early hours of the morning. Whether you are interested in listening to live music or dancing the night away, you are sure to find something to your liking.

Price is based on 2 people sharing a room and includes return economy class flights to Reykjavik, all airport taxes, return airport transfers, 3 nights at Hotel Fron on twin share, 3 breakfast and Northern Lights tour. Hotel upgrades available on request. Please note that Northern Light sightings cannot be guaranteed and excursion is subject to weather conditions.

Departures from London every day from 1 October to 20 December 2009 and 4 January to 31 March 2010.

Departures from Manchester/Glasgow on Fridays for 3 nights and on Mondays for 4 nights during the same period.
