Reykjavik skyline is a colorful mix of red and green rooftop houses which nestle along the fjord with a backdrop of majestic mountains.
The Viking Arnason founded the capital in AD874 and named it Reykjavik, meaning 'Smoky Bay' after seeing the steam rising from the hot springs. Reykjavik is home to more than a dozen museums and galleries and has an interesting Old Town full of parks and lakes and many attractions.
Reykjavik is a modern, forward-looking society, complemented by a close connection to beautiful and unspoilt nature in the city's vicinity. The world's northernmost capital is framed by the majestic Mt. Esja, and the blue waters of Faxafloi Bay and Snaefellsjokull glacier appears crystal-like and baby-blue on the western horizon.
A visit to Iceland and Reykjavik is one of those things to do 'once in your lifetime' at least. The modern pulsating city with so much outstanding nature on the doorstep is really an unforgettable experience. Spend a day or two exploring the city and visit the hot springs, volcanoes and lava fields. Another 'thing' not to be missed is of course the Blue Lagoon which we have included in this tour.

The geothermal seawater is led directly to the Blue Lagoon from wells as deep as 2000 m and the water stays warm and inviting at 36-39° throughout the whole year. An indoor Blue Lagoon and geothermal sauna are also on the site. The Blue Lagoon’s warm water and natural active ingredients; mineral salts, silica and blue green algae help you relax and unwind before your flight. The Blue Lagoon’s white silica mud gently cleanses and exfoliates the skin and has a revitalizing effect while the blue green algae nourish and soften the skin. The mineral salts balance and relaxes body and soul.
