Experience South and West Iceland on this new escorted tour
This new tour offers you the comfort of staying at only few hotels whilst travelling. You will experience the extraordinary nature and geology of Iceland as well as the unique cultural heritage of the country.
This tour will take you to the South coast of Iceland where you can find many natural wonders: geysers, Gullfoss, Skogafoss and Seljalandfoss waterfalls and black sand beaches. After 3 days of exploring the south, the tour continues to West of Iceland where you will visit Snæfellsjökull glacier and cruise around Breiðafjörður bay. On the cruise you will have a chance to try out fresh seafood as well as local delicacy: shark meat. You will continue towards Blue Lagoon through picturesque fishing villages and have a refreshing bath in the lagoon's mineral-rich waters.

ITINERARY
Day 1 - arrival
Fly with a scheduled airline to Reykjavik. After arrival in Reykjavik, transfer to your hotel. Free time to explore the city.
Day 2 - Natural Wonders and History
Start the day with a short city sightseeing tour around Reykjavík. Travel to Þingvellir National Park, a geologically fascinating area and the ancient site of the World’s first parliament. Take a walk through the stunning natural beauty of this historic site. Enjoy great photo opportunities in the world-famous hot spring area of Geysir, with boiling mud pools and erupting hot springs. Wait a few minutes for Strokkur to spout a magnificent water and steam column high into the air. Continue to the powerful Gullfoss waterfall, considered by many to be Iceland’s most impressive waterfall. Overnight in Selfoss.
Day 3 - Meadows and Waterfalls
Drive through the historic countryside of the south which is also the main agricultural area of the country. View the rich farmlands, the towering mountains and on a clear day you may spot the famous, still active, volcano of Hekla which last erupted in the year 2000. The road leads to the waterfalls of Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss displaying charming scenery and giving you a chance to get close to the forces of nature. Onwards to Vík for a view of striking rock formations and the beautiful Reynisfjara black sand beach. Overnight in Selfoss.
Day 4 - Viking Trails
In the morning drive to the fertile Borgarfjörður area, to Hraunfossar waterfalls and Deildartunguhver, the most powerful hot spring in the world. In the town of Borgarnes you will visit the “Settlement Centre” giving you great insight into the settlement of Iceland. Drive on through the moors and lava fields of the Mýrar district and pass the nicely shaped extinct volcanic crater Eldborg. Overnight in Stykkishólmur.
Day 5 - Taste of Iceland
Start the day with a visit to Bjarnarhöfn and try the unique taste of shark, a traditional Icelandic treat. Next you will go on a cruise around Breiðafjörður bay. The bay is famous for its countless islands and bird life. The highlight of the tour is when a net-plough is cast overboard and shellfish delicacies are brought onboard for everyone to taste straight from the sea. Afterwards you can relax and explore the town of Stykkishólmur on your own.

Day 6 - Glacier and Mystical Healing Power
Circle the legendary Snæfellsjökull glacier which covers a powerful central volcano and is unquestionably the crowning jewel of the peninsula. Continue along the northern shores of the peninsula driving through tiny picturesque fishing villages. Take a walk along the magnificent columnar basalt formations of Arnarstapi before stopping at the golden sandy beach at Búðir. Onwards to the Blue Lagoon, for a refreshing bath in the pleasantly warm mineral-rich water, known for its healing properties (entrance fee payable locally). Overnight in the Northern Lights Inn by the Blue Lagoon.
Day 7 - Departure
Breakfast and transfer to Keflavik airport. Fly home with a scheduled airline.
If you are returning to Manchester or Glasgow, stay one extra night either at Northern Light Inn or in Reykjavik.

Accommodation is in farmhouses, country hotels, guest houses or cottages. You will have private facilities in your room.

Located next to Oskjuhlid area, a popular outdoor area with walking paths and the Pearl, a modern edifice and the best viewing spot in Reykjavik, housing the Historical Museum.
