Summer wedding in Iceland

Oddi Church in the south coast of Iceland offers a romantic setting for a summer wedding.

It is one of the oldest church sites in Iceland as it first became famous around the middle of the 11th century, when a church was built there. The current Oddi church was erected in 1924 and has recently been comprehensively restored to a very intimate and romantic place of worship. The stunning surroundings offer panoramic view of South Iceland. Alternatively you can get married by one of South Iceland stunning waterfalls.

Hotel Ranga offers romantic setting and a base for wedding couples wishing to marry in Iceland. The wedding reception will take place at the hotel where you get to enjoy a gourmet wedding dinner. The hotel has out door hot tubs overlooking River Ranga where you can soak up under the midnight sun. Hotel Ranga’s location offers great opportunities for exploring South Iceland on your own; nearby you will find Dyrholaey bird cliffs and black sand beaches as well as Skogafoss waterfall. 4x4 car hire will enable you to discover Iceland’s natural wonders easily.

After your stay in Ranga, continue to the capital of Iceland for few nights. Reykjavik is a modern, forward-looking society, complemented by a close connection to beautiful and unspoilt nature in the city's vicinity. The world's northernmost capital is framed by the majestic Mt. Esja, and the blue waters of Faxafloi Bay and Snaefellsjokull glacier appears crystal-like and baby-blue on the western horizon.

Price includes return economy class flights (based on the cheapest economy class available), all airport taxes, and passenger service charges, car hire for 5 days (medium 4WD such as Toyota RAV4 inc. unlimited mileage, 1 driver, collision damage waiver and theft protection), 4 nights at Hotel Ranga, return transfers by super jeep from Hotel Ranga to Oddi Church and vice versa, rental of Oddi Church, wedding ceremony conducted by a priest inc. a meeting the previous day, 4 course gourmet wedding dinner, decoration of your room for the wedding night inc. bottle of sparkling wine, flowers and candles, 2 nights at Hotel Centrum in Reykjavik in double room, breakfasts every day and return airport transfer by Flybus. Price is based on 2 people sharing a room on low season (May); supplements apply for June-September departures. If you have guests joining you, please contact us for guest quotations.

Please note that weddings are held on weekdays and you would need to arrive to Iceland 2 days before the wedding. It is possible to add extra nights in the countryside or Reykjavik. Honeymoon extension in New York available upon request.

 

ITINERARY

Day 1
Fly to Reykjavik with a scheduled airline.

Pick up your rental car at Keflavik airport and drive to Hella and check in to Hotel Ranga for 4 nights.

Day 2
Breakfast at the hotel.

Today you will visit District Commissioner’s Office to finalize the paper work (has to be a weekday).

Later today you will meet the priest to discuss your ceremony tomorrow. This is when you can iron out all the small details regarding the ceremony.

Day 3
YOUR BIG DAY! After breakfast there is time to get ready for your wedding.

You will be taken to the church by a super jeep. Wedding will take place in the afternoon at picturesque Oddi Church. The ceremony is a Lutheran ceremony conducted by a priest. You can choose to have harmonium music in your ceremony for extra cost.

Alternatively you can get married by a waterfall Seljalandsfoss or Skógafoss. Please contact us for ideas and prices.

After the ceremony you will be taken back to Hotel Ranga by a super jeep.

Enjoy a gourmet wedding dinner (4 courses) at the restaurant in the evening.

A bottle of sparkling wine is waiting for you in your room. Your room is decorated with candles and roses.

Day 4
Breakfast at the hotel. Today you can explore the south shore of Iceland at your own pace. Close by are Dyrholaey bird cliffs and black sand beaches as well as Skogafoss waterfall.

Overnight at Ranga.

Day 5
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive from Hella to Reykjavik through the ‘Golden Circle of Iceland’ and visit Gullfoss waterfall and geysers and drop off the rental car to Reykjavik.

Check in to Hotel Centrum for 2 nights.

Day 6
Breakfast at the hotel. Days are at leisure. You may book excursions or explore Reykjavik on your own. Alternatively you can keep the rental car until departure and explore west Iceland on your own (please note that supplement applies)

Day 7
Breakfast and morning at leisure. Flybus transfer to Keflavik airport and flight home. We recommend departure transfer via Blue Lagoon.
