A UNESCO World Heritage site, Ilulissat Icefjord provides a constant spectacular backdrop, of enormous icebergs lined up at the mouth of the fjord to Disko Bay. It's also a place where the sled dogs outnumber the local population and where you can also experience the Midnight Sun, inland ice, and calving glaciers. The short and intense summer months of July and August offer opportunities to witness an array of Arctic flora dazzle in an explosion of colour across the landscapes. Picturesque hiking trails, sailing and iceberg trips are some of the highlights of a summer in Greenland.

Day 1 » Copenhagen
Depart London Heathrow and arrive at Copenhagen. Check into your hotel, conveniently attached to the airport's terminal and just 15 minutes from the city centre via metro. The hotel provides the perfect base to explore the city in the evening before continuing with your onward journey tomorrow.

Day 2 » Ilulissat
After an early breakfast, catch your flight to Ilulissat, via Kangerlussuaq. The flight enables you to take in the magnificent Arctic landscape, the barren wilderness, and the magnitude of the Inland Ice Cape. On arrival take the Hotel Arctic transfer bus to your hotel, where a local guide awaits to give you any updates on your trip.
We have included an easy guided walking tour of the town where you can begin to absorb some of the history of this 18th century trading post and enjoy its sedentary vibe against the backdrop of the unmissable icefjord.
Later this evening, enjoy a welcome dinner in the restaurant at the Hotel Arctic.

Day 3 » Ilulissat
Enjoy breakfast before enjoying a guided walk to the old settlement at the Ice Fjord. This easy walk provides a beautiful backdrop for the 4,000-year-old settlement of Sermermiut, as you admire the spectacular, constant icebergs floating by, before hearing about Inuit life and traditions.
Return to the hotel and take time to just absorb the atmosphere, colours and view of the fjord from the terrace.
The rest of the day and evening are left to enjoy at your leisure. You can once again enjoy dinner at Hotel Arctic (pay locally) or venture back into town for more culinary adventures.

Day 4 » Ilulissat
Today you will sail amongst the magnificent icebergs calved from 40 million tons of ice that ebb and flow daily in the fjord. Gigantic icebergs and reach heights of 100m above the waters surface and afford a viewpoint at every angle. This is an exceptional experience, you do not want to be without while visiting Ilulissat. Remember to bring warm clothes (even in summer).
The remainder of the day and evening are at leisure.

Day 5 » Ilulissat
After breakfast today, journey along the coast, look out for whales and spot seals among the fjords as you head to Eqi Glacier - 80km north of Ilulissat and one of the most active glaciers in Greenland. Your route passes Bredebugt, the settlement of Oqaatsut and the Ataa Strait, which is surrounded by steep mountains, home to birdlife and waterfalls.
On arrival the boat will spend around 2-hours in front of the glacier as you listen to the cracking and creaking of the ice. You may be rewarded with a view of a calving too. Lunch is served on board before heading back to Ilulissat.
The journey to the glacier can take between 2-5 hours each day depending on which boat is sailing.

Day 6 » Copenhagen
Depart for Copenhagen, returning to the same airport hotel for an overnight stay. Enjoy the evening at your leisure before your flight back to the UK the next day.
