The clear waters of Jerisjärvi transform into a vast icy plain as the annual freeze sets in, and this winter playground awaits each morning as you step out of your timber cabin. Lovingly decorated to create a typically Scandinavian ambience, with the smell of pine and woodsmoke lingering on the furniture, you’ll feel as cosy as it is possible to be when you huddle up by the fire each evening.

Smaller Jerisranta cabins close to the main hotel area sleep two to six people, while larger Jeriskylä cabins are situated further into the forest. Should you wish to take a long safari, there are also a number of wilderness cabins that provide overnight shelter. Mealtimes at Jeris take place at the restaurant overlooking the lake, serving up a range of Lappish delicacies to fuel you through your stay.

Eat

Restaurant Jeris has a wonderful setting overlooking Lake Jerisjärvi and an inventive Taste of Lapland à la carte menu featuring local dishes such as sautéed reindeer and Arctic char. After dining, relax by the large fireplace in the ’Hideaway’ bar.

Sleep

Hotel Jeris has 26 cosy wilderness-style rooms in the main hotel space, and a choice of back-to-nature cabins.

Jerisranta log cabins are right by the hotel near the lake and each have a fireplace and private sauna. The larger Jeriskylä cabins are set deeper in the forest and can accommodate up to 7 people in 2 bedrooms and a loft space.

The hotel also has a choice of wilderness cabins in West Lapland for overnight stays on long safaris. Among the best is Nivunkijärvi, an old Lappish house on Nivunkijärvi Lake divided into three separate sleeping areas for up to 10 people.

Do

Hotel Jeris offers a fabulous range of nature activities. Summer hiking trips in the surrounding fells or a winter network of cross-country skiing tracks take you out into some of the cleanest air in all of Europe. You can enjoy snowmobile and dogsled safaris in winter and quad bike adventures in summer.

Jeris Spa is a perfect spot for relaxation after an active day. Two heated outdoor pools overlook Jerisjärvi Lake and the surrounding forest. There’s a choice of electrically heated or traditional Lappish smoke sauna, and the adventurous can plunge into a 25-metre illuminated ice pool throughout the winter.
