This invigorating itinerary takes you deep into the heart of the Finnish wilderness and Syöte National Park, a rolling expanse of hills and boreal forest that, under the white wintry duvet, resembles an extraterrestrial field of stalagmites. Your three-night stay leaves plenty of time for exploration, and our specialists are on hand to tailor a trip just for you, helping you choose for a wide range of thrilling winter activities, from snowmobiling and husky sledding to snowshoeing and searching for the Northern Lights.

Day by day itinerary

  • Day 1 » Depart for Rovaniemi

    Your holiday starts with a flight to Rovaniemi before taking the two-hour transfer to Iso-Syöte Hotel. After checking into your hotel room, spend the rest of your day getting accustomed to your new environment. For a more traditional experience, ask us about an upgrade to one of Iso-Syöte’s homely log cabins.

  • Day 2 » Iso-Syöte

    You’ll have a whole day to enjoy the many exciting optional excursions on offer at Iso-Syöte. These range from driving your very own team of dogs through the forest to hiking with showshoes, keeping an eye out for local fauna as you pass. Unusually for this part of the world, downhill skiing is also available, with 17 slopes and 10 lifts offering superb opportunities for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. Then, in the evening you can take a snowmobile out to search for the Northern Lights. Iso-Syote have also just launched their new-for-2021 Skywalk, where a glass panel and walkway on top of the hotel affords you wonderful views of the aurora and panoramic vistas of the surrounding landscape.

  • Days 3-4 » Iso-Syöte

    With another two free days, you’ll have ample time to enjoy more optional activities with the likes of reindeer safaris, kicksled adventures and ice fishing excursions among a whole host of options. Alternatively, you might simply choose to relax with a day of steaming saunas and hot-tub soaks at the Arctic Spa. Further afield, the excellent Ranua Wildlife Park – the world’s northernmost zoo – offers the chance to come face to face with brown bear, lynx, wolf, moose and deer.

  • Day 5 » Return to UK

    After breakfast, transfer to Rovaniemi for your flight back to the UK.
