Looking as epic as a Svalbard landscape, the first teaser trailer for Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials has been released. And, it seems that fans of the seminal trilogy are in for a treat.
For starters, there’s the all-star cast, with Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda as Lee Scoresby joining the likes of James McAvoy as Lord Asriel, The Affair’s Ruth Wilson as the dangerous Ms Coulter, and rising star Dafne Keen as Lyra. Then, there are the fantastical creatures, from rampaging armoured ‘panserbjorne’ polar bears and ‘cliff-ghasts' to angels, witches and sapient Arctic foxes. It’s all set to be a truly jaw-dropping affair, played out against a backdrop of magnificent and mystical landscapes, including one of our favourite locations – the Svalbard Archipelago.
While there’s yet to be an official release date, it looks set to land some later in 2019, with the first series focussing on the first book – Northern Lights.
