» Price from: £2,105 pp incl. flights

This thrilling trip offers spectacular Arctic landscapes right on your hotel’s doorstep, taken in with husky safaris, forest hikes and hunting the Northern Lights. The star of the show is your luxury aurora igloo on the edge of the Pyhä-Luosto National Park, where star-spangled skies and pine-tree forests frame some of the oldest fells on Earth.

Day by day itinerary

  • Day 1 » UK to Rovaniemi

After your flight from the UK to Rovaniemi, take an included transfer to Santa’s Hotel Aurora, where your traditional pine-clad room offers panoramic views of outside’s snow-dusted firs. Then, head to the delightfully cosy onsite restaurant, all wood-panelled walls and oversized windows looking out across the forest. Here, menus showcase delicious ingredients plucked directly from Finland’s northern wilds, from reindeer sirloin steak to grilled Arctic salmon, all complemented by a comprehensive wine list.

  • Days 2-3 » Husky Safari, Wilderness dinners & snowshoe hiking!

Spend two memorable days exploring your national-park surrounds, beginning with a husky farm visit – a friendly introduction to your four-legged mushing team. Then, an ultra-scenic safari awaits as your eager crew wind along frozen trails and past snow-sculpted trees and vast frozen lakes, the silence only broken by enthusiastic yelps and the steady pitter-patter of paws on snow. Warm up with a hot berry juice by the fire before an evening walk leads you to your dinner destination, a snug forest kota where you’ll tuck in to the likes of forest mushroom soup, fire-smoked salmon and traditional pancakes and jam.

The next day we have included a snowshoe hike, spotting everything from ambling elks to swooping Siberian jays as you trek among the spruce trees and past gorges which carve through the ancient icy fells. Finally, head back to the hotel to sleep in a stylishly appointed glass igloo. As you settle in for the evening, look forward to private views of the northern sky and, luck depending, nature’s celestial spectacle – the Northern Lights.
