Overlooking the snow-dusted islands of the Luleå Archipelago, Brändön Lodge is the ideal base for a winter adventure. Here, guests can experience an array of seasonal excursions from husky sledding and guided snowmobiling to hovercraft trips, ice fishing and snowshoe hikes. This four-day break includes two such adventures – a husky safari and snowmobile tour across the pack ice of the archipelago, which freezes up to a metre thick during winter. Each evening you'll return to a sumptuous three-course dinner and the chance to relax in the sauna, complete with views across the frozen sea.

Day by day itinerary
Day 1 » Arrive at Brändön Lodge
Fly from the UK to Luleå via Stockholm and transfer to Brändön Lodge for a three-night stay. You'll be provided with warm winter clothing on arrival, before enjoying an afternoon of sauna relaxation followed by the first of your included three-course dinners. Menus are inspired by the region's seasonal produce, and prepared to perfection by the lodge's talented chef. Then, in the evening, keep an eye on the sky for a glimpse of the Northern Lights, conditions permitting, of course.
Day 2 » Snowmobiling
After breakfast you'll enjoy a guided snowmobile excursion across the frozen sea to explore the islands of the Luleå Archipelago, taking in the stunning winter landscapes as your guide introduces you to life in the northern wilderness. The tour takes you to the 17th-century fishing village of Brändöskär, located in the outer archipelago. Here, you'll try your hand at ice fishing before riding out across the seemingly endless fields of pack ice, stretching away into the Gulf of Bothnia. Enjoy a wilderness lunch cooked over an open fire as part of your tour, before returning to the lodge for dinner and another of those warming saunas.
