Sparkling with contemporary Scandinavian design, this central Gothenburg hotel is among the finest in the city. Stay here and you'll be within ambling distance of the city's top attractions, with Drottningtorget Square and Gothenburg Central Station are just around the corner. But you may find it hard to drag yourself away from facilities that include a spa, a rooftop pool and a selection of superb restaurants.

Eat

And it's at the restaurants that we begin, with the stunning redesigned Norda combining classic art deco influences with a menu that pairs world-spanning culinary influences with ingredients sourced fresh from Sweden's stunning west coast. Elsewhere, the outstanding vRÅ showcases even more of those delicious local ingredient, this time in their rawest form with seasonally inspired sushi tasting menus that rank among the city's best. There's also a wine cellar, a rooftop terrace perfect for summer cocktails, and a wonderful breakfast buffet to get your day off to the perfect start.

Sleep

Far from being confined to the hotel's public spaces, the chic Scandinavian style continues into the guest rooms, each one flooded with natural light and designer furnishings. The standard doubles, small but perfectly formed, are ideally suited to single traveller. But, if there are two of you, it's well worth upgrading to a superior for ten square metres more space, wonderfully high ceilings and restored windows that frame views of the city. Meanwhile, deluxe and junior suite upgrades throw in everything from Nespresso machines to curated artworks.

Do

Perhaps the most appealing aspect of this hotel is its rooftop pool, ideal for those long Swedish summers. There's also a spa – the Beauty Factory – where guests can enjoy everything from massages to pedicures and facials. There's also a salon and a fully equipped gym on site.
