Day by day itinerary

  • Day 1 » UK to Finnish Lapland

Flying out to Rovaniemi in the depths of Finnish Lapland, you’ll be met at the airport by an included transfer for the journey through old-growth forests to your hand-picked accommodation. Staying in a gorgeous, timber-clad apartment, you’ll be able to cosy up by the fire in your plush living room before enjoying that most Finnish of traditions – a private sauna. You’ll even have your own terrace to watch for the Northern Lights from. And, although you’ll have a fully equipped kitchen, you’ll also enjoy the first of your half-board meals with dinner. Expect locally sourced specialities served in a snug, candle-lit restaurant that’s all fur-clad seating and antler-adorned walls.

  • Day 2 » Snowmobile to a Reindeer Farm and Northern Lights chase by snowmobile

After a hearty breakfast, you’ll begin your programme of included excursions today. Wrapping up in the provided winter clothing and after instruction, you will head out on a snowmobile (driving 2 per vehicle) to a local reindeer farm. Here you will meet up to 300 reindeer at this traditional farm. You will also go on a short reindeer ride followed by a warm meal in a cabin. Return to Ranua Resort by snowmobile. Then, this evening after dinner, you’ll be treated to a true trip highlight – a northern lights sleigh ride by Finnish horse along the forested trails, pausing for a cup of hot juice by an open fire. Luck permitting, you’ll also be able to enjoy the aurora at its magical best.

  • Day 3 » Husky sledding

Following breakfast today, your included excursions continue with a husky sledding adventure. Again, you’ll receive expert instruction and thermal clothing before taking the reins and heading out into Lapland’s winter wonderland. Swapping halfway with your partner, you’ll also have the opportunity to relax and enjoy the views. Of course, there’s also plenty of time to meet the eager-to-please huskies themselves. Then, with some free time, we highly recommend heading to the next-door Ranua Wildlife Park. Here, you can expect to spot everything from lynx and wolverine to Arctic fox and polar bears. Finally, perhaps round off the day by renting a hot tub at your accommodation.

Perched right on a remote lake, they offer a truly sublime setting to recline on your bed and watch as the Northern Lights erupt overhead. A private sauna and a hearty restaurant dinner, bookended by included transfers, round off a perfect evening.
