There’s time, too, for a gentle husky safari and a family‑friendly snowmobiling adventure through the snowy landscape. With hearty meals, welcoming atmosphere and the option to extend your stay, it’s a simple, memorable way to experience the best of Lapland in just a few days.

Day by day itinerary

  • Day 1 » Fly to Kittilä

Fly to Kittilä and take the included shuttle transfer north to Harriniva, set among snowy forests close to the Swedish border. Check in to your chosen accommodation and settle into the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Depending on your arrival time, you’ll collect your winter clothing either today or first thing tomorrow. Dinner is served in the main restaurant, offering hearty dishes that set the tone for your stay.

    Stay: Hotel Harriniva, Muonio

  • Day 2 » Reindeer experience & Santa visit with snow activities

After breakfast, your day begins with a gentle reindeer experience. You’ll meet Lapland’s calm, sure‑footed reindeer and learn about the region’s herding traditions, past and present. Visit a historic museum to discover stories from the old days, and try your hand at throwing a suopunki, the Lappish lasso, just like the local herders do. Then, wrapped in blankets, enjoy a short sleigh ride through the quiet winter landscape.

Lunch is served back at the hotel before your private Santa experience. A friendly elf will guide each family to Santa’s cabin for an unhurried, personal meeting. Children can share their Christmas wishes and receive a small gift to take home. While waiting for your turn, there’s plenty to keep everyone entertained. Snow activities range from mini snowmobiles for younger children to cross‑country skiing, snowshoeing and snow football. Dinner is served later in the restaurant.

  • Day 3 » Husky experience & snowmobile safari

After breakfast, you’ll head to the husky kennels to meet the cheerful huskies and see their excitement as they get ready to run. Their happy barks and wagging tails set the mood as you get into the spirit of the adventure. After a short introduction, your family will settle into the sled while an experienced musher takes the lead. It’s a relaxed, comfortable way to experience the snowy landscape, with the 5-6 km route offering plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Lunch is served back at Harriniva before your afternoon adventure begins. This time, you’ll explore the winter trails by snowmobiling, following your guide through forests and across open stretches of snow. Adults drive their own snowmobiles, while children travel safely in a sleigh behind the guide. The route is around 10-15 km long, perfect distance to enjoy the fun and freedom of snowmobiling at an easy, family-friendly pace. Admire the views and share the joy of this unforgettable Lapland experience together. Return to the restaurant for dinner and a relaxed final evening in Lapland.
