Situated amid a pristine landscape of forests, fells and lakes, around 130 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle, Northern Lights Village Pyhä is a fabulous base for a winter adventure that combines superb Northern Lights viewing with opportunities to immerse yourself in the wilderness of Finnish Lapland. It pairs a wonderfully peaceful setting with comfortable and stylish accommodation, hearty buffet dining and a full programme of thrilling guided excursions in the surrounding region – ranging from husky safaris and snowmobiles rides to snowshoe hikes and authentic Sámi reindeer experiences.

Eat

All meals are served in the cosy, warmly-lit main building of Northern Lights Village Pyhä with views of the surrounding forests. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served buffet-style, featuring both hearty and traditional Lappish dishes as well as international flavours. A small but thoughtfully curated à la carte menu is also available on request.

Sleep

Northern Lights Village Pyhä offers a variety of accommodation categories to suit different tastes, budgets and group sizes. Cosy Aurora Cabins come with heated glass roofs, allowing you to watch the Northern Lights from the warmth and comfort of your bed, while Aurora Suites offer a similar experience but with plenty of extra space and the additional benefit of a private sauna. SkyView Suites provide a sleek, modern alternative to more traditional igloo-style accommodation, with panoramic windows also offering front row seats to the Northern Lights. The most spacious option is the Taiga Forest Cabin, which comes with two bedrooms, a plush living area, a private sauna and an outdoor terrace – perfect for larger groups and families.

Do

At 67°N, Northern Lights Village Pyhä lies beneath the auroral oval and is therefore ideally placed for observing the Northern Lights on clear nights. A range of guided Northern Lights tours are available, offering the chance to hunt the aurora by minibus, snowmobile, snowshoe or heated sleigh, as well as photography-focused Northern Lights experiences. Other popular tours include snowmobiling, husky sledding, Sámi reindeer experiences, snowshoe hiking, cross-country skiing and ice fishing. Over the Christmas period, it’s possible to arrange a visit to meet Santa at his secret cabin, while throughout the winter months, nearby Pyhä Ski Resort offers 15 slopes to suit all ability levels.
