Combine a night at ICEHOTEL with a thrilling husky safari to a log cabin deep in the wilderness

» 4 day tailor-made break

» Price from: £1,840 pp incl. flights

A stay at Sweden’s ICEHOTEL is an essential Scandinavian experience, and our classic break has long been among our most popular tours. But we think we’ve improved it by combining a night on ice with a husky safari to a remote cabin in the wilderness. After a stay in one of the classic ICEHOTEL's Ice Rooms, you'll join your expert guide for an unforgettable husky adventure to a remote and cosy lodge deep in the wilderness. Here you'll enjoy the likes of wood-fired saunas and a hearty food served around a roaring campfire before settling into your log-cabin home. Now what could be better than that?

Day by day itinerary

  • Day 1 » Depart for ICEHOTEL

Fly out to Kiruna where a shuttle transfer will bring you to the frosty banks of the Torne River and the town of Jukkasjärvi – home to the ICEHOTEL. Check into your Ice Room – or Art Suite if you’ve plumped for an upgrade – before a complimentary tour introduces you to the hotel’s spectacular art and architecture. It’s the perfect preamble for a soak in the sauna, followed by dinner at one of ICEHOTEL’s three restaurants. Then, with the darkness well and truly descended, perhaps pop to the ICE BAR for a drink, or take a chance for a first-night excursion in search of the Northern Lights; there’s everything from snowmobiling to horseback rides.

    Stay: ICEHOTEL, Jukkasjärvi

  • Day 2 » Husky safari to wilderness cabin

After a hot lingonberry juice, served to your room, and a warming sauna and delicious breakfast, you’ll check out of ICEHOTEL to begin a day of unimaginable adventure in the wilds of Swedish Lapland. Your overnight husky trip doesn’t depart until mid-afternoon, so take your pick from a full spread of optional excursions. You might try your hand at ice sculpting under the watchful gaze of the hotel’s ice experts, sharpen your camera skills on a photo tour, or work up a sweat with some cross-country skiing. Then, at around 3:30pm, you’ll meet your guide – a 9th generation Arctic settler whose forefathers were among the first to build permanent homes in the region. He’ll lead you, by snowmobile sled, across the frozen Torne River to meet the huskies and learn the basics of mushing your own team. It’s then time to head out into the wilderness, racing down icy trails to reach your remote wilderness camp. On arrival, settle the pack in their kennels before warming up with a wood-fired sauna and sate your appetite with a hearty two-course dinner. Keep an eye on the sky for the dancing aurora, then settle in for a night in your rustic log-cabin home, one of five surrounding a central campfire.

    Stay: Wilderness cabin

    Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

  • Days 3-4 » ICEHOTEL

Wake to a delicious breakfast before helping to harness the dogs for the journey back to ICEHOTEL, where you’ll check into a warm Arctic Chalet. Perhaps take the chance for one final optional excursion before a morning transfer to the airport for your flight home.
