Days 1-2 » UK/Bergen
Flying out to Norway’s second city, you’ll make your way to your accommodation – a perfectly located gem of flawless Scandi functionality. Indeed, with two days to explore, you’ll have Bergen’s many sights on your doorstep, with its Hanseatic wharf a special highlight. Just a few minutes’ stroll from your hotel, it’s a maze of centuries-old timber buildings, today given over to hip boutiques and welcoming cafés. Otherwise, perhaps catch a cable car or the famous Mt. Fløyen funicular for spectacular views over the city and its fjord setting, resplendent in snowy beauty.

Days 3-4 » Voss
You’ll begin your Norway in a Nutshell tour with an included rail journey, heading through scenic, snow-dappled valleys to arrive at Voss – a cutesy riverside village. Here, you’ll stay in a grand, 19th-century dame of a hotel, all high Swiss gables, Jacuzzis and saunas. You’ll also be treated to indulgent half-board dining, with regional dishes informed by local ingredients. While you might want to stay local for some snowshoeing fun, your hotel is also next-door to Voss Resort’s gondola and the Myrkdalen’s complimentary shuttle bus. Between the two ski resorts, there’s something for every ability, from cross-country runs to perfectly groomed alpine slopes.

Days 5-6 » Flåm
Continuing your included Norway in a Nutshell tour, you’ll board a bus to follow the Strandavegen River on to Gudvangen, where you’ll swap to a boat. Hitting the waters, you’ll cruise through the spectacular Nærøyfjord, where kilometre-high mountains look down on glassy waters and quaint hamlets alike. You’ll arrive into one such idyllic village, with Flåm. Here, you’ll check into a pine-clad alpine chalet to enjoy sumptuous half-board dining, served by the roaring fire. If you can tear yourself away from its craft brewery, your two days here might see you strap on snowshoes or sail out on a fjord cruise to showcase the surrounding natural beauty.

Day 7 » Flåm Railway to Bergen
Today you’ll be treated to a true trip highlight – a trip on the Flåm Railway. Often found topping lists of the world’s best train journeys, it maps rushing rivers, plunges through snow-laden forests and winds up through high valleys. It all ends at the mountain station of Myrdal, where you’ll change on to a train to Bergen for a final night. Perhaps check out its excellent museums on the city’s maritime past and its great composer Edvard Grieg, or end in style with the superb bar and restaurant scene.
