Whilst in Mefjordvaer enjoy opportunities and excursions including snow-shoeing, fjord safari's and discover the vibrant and lively university city, Tromso.
Humpback and killer whale watching season starts in December and the whales stay by the coast of Senja until late February. Outside of these times the itinerary can be done with alternative activities.
Depart the UK and fly to Tromso. On arrival, make your way to the Clarion Collection Hotel With, located near the harbour in the heart of the city, for a one-night stay.
The rest of the day is yours to explore the city at your leisure. Tromsø, also known as the 'Capital of the North' is a lively university town, offering an abundance of historical and cultural attractions such as the Arctic Cathedral and museums and the world's northernmost botanical gardens. However, if you're looking to enjoy the city at a slower pace, admire the city from the top of Storsteinen mountain after taking the Fjellheisen cable car, and soak up the friendly atmosphere in one of the many restaurants, bars and coffee shops. In the evening, head out to one the city's many top-class restaurants before joining an optional tour in search of your first glimpse of the Northern Lights.
After a free morning, board the boat in the afternoon for a short ride from Tromso to Finnsnes. You will be met by a driver in Finnsnes and transferred to your accommodation for the next three nights, passing through the beautiful scenery of Senja Island on the way. After settling in to your comfortable apartment in Mefjord Brygge, enjoy dinner in the maritime-style restaurant. The evening is yours to relax, or perhaps spent taking in your new surroundings with a short walk.

After an early breakfast, meet your guide and discuss the activities over the next few days before embarking on your first adventure. Board either a boat or bus for a fjord safari, lasting roughly three hours with ample opportunities to photograph the wildlife including humpback and killer whales and marine landscapes of Norway's fjords. Following lunch, enjoy some time to relax before a traditional Norwegian dinner served early evening, and a Northern Lights excursion. Venture to remote spots and scenic vantage points to maximise your chances to admire the Aurora Borealis without light pollution.

Following a filling breakfast, depart for your first activity of the day. Dependent on season, your morning could be spent on board a bus, boat, or snow-shoeing, all of which will allow you to admire Senja's nature and in the case of bad weather, a mini-bus trip will explore the Arctic coast and Norwegian sea waters. Enjoy lunch either on the excursion or upon return to Mefjordvaer, with time to relax before dinner. The evening end with more night time explorations either by foot or mini-bus, with plenty of time to take photos and learn of Senja's history. Enjoy a relaxing sauna before bed.
