Sweden is the third largest country in Western Europe. Because of its long, narrow shape and northerly location, the landscape is highly diversified. The Swedish landscape features countless lakes and waterways, surrounded by vast pine and spruce forests in the north, mixed with oak, birch and other leafy forests further south. Sweden has majestic mountains and glaciers, as well as wide-open countryside, interspersed by small idyllic villages and vibrant cities such as the capital, Stockholm. Located on the east coast, the capital, Stockholm is one of the most beautiful capitals in Europe. Built on 14 islands you will be close to water and green areas wherever you are in the city.
Sweden enjoys four different seasons. Summers are so pleasant and mild that you can sun bathe above the Arctic Circle or ski under the midnight sun. Temperatures usually stay around +20c degrees in the summer however occasional heat waves are not unheard of. In the winter the temperature can dip below freezing point but thanks to the Gulf Stream, Sweden enjoys a favourable climate even in the winter. The best times to visit are from May to September and December to April. From about mid-May the sun doesn’t set at all above the Arctic Circle. The round the clock sunshine lasts till mid-July up north, however the whole country enjoys light nights during the summer.
